Enabling Y-axis and Z-axis Motion Parallax of a Light Field Display using Kinect head track
Currently, all of the off-the-shelf light field displays are only able to provide motion parallax horizontally but not vertically. Although a lot of people think vertical parallax is not as important as horizontal parallax, I do think it is worth enabling the vertical parallax on light field displays. Therefore, I attached an Azure Kinect body tracker to a Looking Glass display to obtain the viewer’s head position; then reset the projection matrix according to the head position. Here is what it looks like compared with the original one:
